Live-In Direct Care Position
“Live In” Direct Care Staff: A Live In Direct Care Staff is an hourly position, with the addition of living on the premises. The additional “Live In” responsibilities Include but are not limited to the following:
Sleeping on the premises on nights required, in the living space provided solely to the Live In staff.
Responding to emergencies such as an ill client, fire or weather-related emergencies when required to sleep on premises.
Generally, Live In staff have hourly paid morning, and or weekend shifts to assist clients.
Through this position, staff serve individuals by regular Direct Care Responsibilities such as:
Promoting an active and meaningful life at home and in the community by discerning and implementing each person’s preferences and assuring that they have opportunities to exercise them continually.
Understanding and ensuring compliance with each individual’s abuse prevention plan and personal support plans.
Understanding, implementing and documenting all programming as assigned by supervisors including person centered planning and delivery.
Encouraging individuals served to maintain relationships with their family and friends.
Preparing and administering medications and documenting by med passing protocols.
Providing basic first aid, or CPR as needed.
Performing personal cares as needed, which may include assistance with personal hygiene and grooming, eating and other activities of daily living (ADLs).
Monitoring funds and support individuals as they learn to use their funds appropriately.
Understanding, preparing and encouraging a healthy diet.
Encouraging and participating in regular exercise, promoting a physically active life.
Providing appropriate support in instrumental activities of daily living (IADLs).
Communicating effectively with teammates and supervisor by:
Documenting significant events during shifts in relevant logs, and alerting supervisors.
Attending required team meetings and completing trainings in a timely manner.
Raising concerns about team performance and program quality with supervisors as relevant.
Maintaining a safe and healthy living and working environment by:
Keeping all areas of the home and premises safe and clean.
Observing safety rules in all things but especially in the acts of: lifting and transferring, the use of chemical cleaners and disinfectants, the use of vehicles, appliances and other tools.
Reporting or correcting inadequate safety conditions immediately or as soon as possible.
Perform effectively in emergency situations:
Reporting all potential violations of Vulnerable Adults Act including (Abuse, Neglect or Financial Exploitation).
Carrying out and implementing document safety drills preparing for fire or weather emergencies monthly.
Reporting all incidents, accidents or emergencies according to company policy and procedures.
REQUIREMENTS:
Must be 18 years of age, have a Driver’s License, Insurance and Reliable Vehicle, have caregiving experience of one year at the same job.
